Georgia's Golf Campaign

Hello!

My name is Georgia Shears, I am 20 years old and I am an elite Australian women's amateur golfer. I am currently ranked amongst the top 4 Western Australian women’s players and I am (as of April 1st) positioned 14th in the Australian National Rankings.

In order to pursue my goal, playing professionally on tour, one of the stepping stones is to be able to travel and play around the world as an elite amateur golfer. Not only will this open the door to competing against a larger pool of competition but it will be a huge chunk of experience to put in my 'experience bank' as I grow and develop my golf career.

Early in the 2017 -2018 season I was ranked 50th in Australia. During the season I was able to produce some great results finishing 4th at the Tasmania Amateur Stroke play in November  2017 and then finishing 4th at the Western Australia Amateur Championship in March 2018. At the end of the 2017 -2018 season I had moved up to 14th in Australia, and saw my game continually improve and grow.

The 2017-2018 Australian season was an incredible experience, competing against the countries best female golfers, having some great tournament results, traveling to many new places, and learning about the demands of tour life. It is an experience I am very grateful for and one that has equipped me with more skill and understanding of the game of golf and what I can continue to do better to improve my game.

I am excited to announce that I am launching a new campaign to support what will be my first international trip to the US in 5 of their amateur tournaments during their summer season.

After a successful 2017-2018 Australian season I am eager to push myself and my golf game even further. I have learnt so much this past year but I’m looking forward to this new challenge in America. Playing in international tournaments will only strengthen my golf and continue the success I have achieved during the 2017-2018 Australian season.

I have chosen the events listed below to positively impact my world ranking over the next few months. Many of the world's top amateur women players will be also playing in these events - this will provide the opportunity to place myself among a world class field.

So, I am kindly asking for any support you can provide in helping me make this schedule a reality! These funds would help me pay for flights, entry fees into tournaments, accommodation in certain places and much more!

I would like to personally thank everyone in advance for your support no matter how small or big. This will be my first international season and I am very excited to have the opportunity. I will do my very best to make all of you proud.

Many thanks,

Georgia X

For a brief introduction of myself:

I have been a member of, and honored to be captain, for the WA Women’s State Team since the beginning of  2017. Becoming a high performance player has helped me develop in every aspect of my game in light of building a professional career for myself. I have been receiving coaching from Ritchie Smith (Australian National Coach/Perth Golf Academy) since I was 16 years old.

Additionally, in the last 12 months I have received a significant amount of support from Wanneroo Golf Club (home club), providing me with fantastic facilities to continue improving my game.

My support team being GolfWA, my coach Ritchie, my trainer Gregg Murphy from JSR Massage, and close family and friends, have had a significant contribution to my recent success and will continue to positively impact my achievements throughout 2017/18 in clarifying the decisions I need to make for my future.

After juggling both education and golf over the past 3 years, I am looking to postpone my Bachelor of Science till the unforeseeable future to pursue my professional golf career. As a result I am planning a very exciting year of golf ahead!

So, I am kindly asking for any support you can provide in helping me make this schedule a reality! These funds would help me pay for flights, entry fees into tournaments, accommodation in certain places and much more!

I would like to personally thank everyone in advance for your support no matter how small or big. This will be my first national season and I am very excited to have the opportunity to do it this year. I will do my very best to make all of you proud.

Thank you for helping me grow into my dream!

Sincere thanks,
