George's transplant fund
Donation protected
About a year ago things started going south. I was feeling tired, achy, and even lost consciousness. I decided to go to the hospital—something wasn’t right. After a battery of tests, the doctors determined that I was in Stage 5 Renal Failure and would need a kidney transplant. A biopsy showed that the damage to my kidneys was caused by my diabetes (the number one cause of kidney disease). Because I am a Type 1 diabetic, my transplant team determined that I would qualify for a PKT or Pancreas-Kidney Transplant. Until the transplant happens, and for the last six months, I have been doing dialysis at home for 10 hours each night.
Having this transplant would dramatically improve my quality of life. My kidneys would be able to filter properly, and with a new pancreas there’s even a chance that my diabetes would go away. This is a difficult surgery with a long recovery time. I will be in the hospital for at least two weeks followed by two months or more of bed rest. Any donations would help with hospital bills and lost wages from not being able to work.
I really just want to get my life back and get back to the George I used to be. Thank you for any help you are able to give.
