George&Angel: A Beloved Restaurant Family in Need

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Amber Furby, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt story that holds a special place in my heart. I had the privilege of meeting two incredible individuals, George and Angel, during my childhood visits to the Jade Dragon restaurant with my grandmother.

From the very beginning, George and Angel's warmth and kindness left an incredible mark on me. Little did I know that this chance encounter would blossom into a lifelong connection that played a pivotal role in shaping my journey. Through the years, I not only had the pleasure of working at the Jade Dragon throughout high school, but their unwavering support also guided me as I pursued and obtained both my college degree and masters.

What sets George, Angel, and the Leu family apart was not just their exceptional restaurant, but the genuine sense of friendship to everyone who walked through their doors. They became my pillars of strength, always ready with valuable advice and guidance through every phase of life. In their eyes, I wasn't just an employee – I was family.

I come to you today with a heartfelt request for assistance on behalf of George and Angel Leu, the wonderful owners of Jade Dragon in Bensenville. For over 45 years, George and Angel had been an integral part of our community, serving delicious meals and spreading joy to countless customers.

Recently, Angel has been facing an extremely challenging medical condition that has resulted in permanent nerve damage to her feet. After spending five long weeks in the hospital, she now requires ongoing chemo-type treatments for the foreseeable future. This condition has left her unable to walk or stand on her own, and she is currently undergoing occupational and physical therapy at Marian Joy.

Despite being two of the hardest working individuals we know, the financial burden of these extensive treatments and necessary assisted living care has become overwhelming for George and Angel. They have dedicated their lives to their restaurant and our community, and now they need our support in return.
