George Pittenturf Sr Medical Recovery

Donation protected
A week before thanksgiving my father George Pittenturf Sr had his 3rd stroke. He was taken to the hospital where he needed to be transported to another hospital to await surgery to try and break up the blood clot that caused the stroke. The doctors were successfully able to break the clot up. He then went into the ICU to start being assed for any damage. A few days later the doctors were able to keep the swelling on his brain down. After the doctors looked at the MRI scan it was determined that he had very little to zero activity on the left side of his brain. The only thing he could do on his own would be breathing. The doctors told me that we needed to prepare for him to be in a wheelchair, have a feeding tube, and need round the clock care. After a few days of working with him he began to say a few words. At this time the doctors were confident that some rehab may help him in the long run. He was transferred to a sub-acute rehab facility to start the process of teaching him things all over again. This rehab is like a boot camp that is really involved and all about getting everybody ready to be independent or semi independent. We were notified by this facility that my fathers insurance would only cover 21 consecutive days of rehab. Then there would be a gap in insurance coverage. He has been on state disability for close to 25 years. At least two months of his rehab will have to be paid out of pocket. The total cost is roughly $5200 per month for the rehab facility. Not including any cost of things that he will need once his rehab stay is over. Currently my mother would be accountable  for these fees or any type of payments needed. My mother has been unemployed since October of 2019. Her place of employment caught fire and is still currently being rebuilt. I cant thank the owners of that business enough for taking care of my mother and all employees throughout that time and to this date. But as we all know an unemployment check only goes so far. We as a family are doing everything that we can to assure my mother that she will not lose her house or have to worry about her next meal. If we cant get help from the insurance company she will be in debt just from a rehab stay from my father.

2020 has been horrible for us all. My fathers stroke happened just 2 months after their house caught on fire. They moved back into the house after some rebuilding and were only there for a few weeks before he had his stroke. The rehab that he has been doing is helping tremendously. He has began to sit up and move on his own. They are working with him actually eating soft solid food. I do believe in my heart that this rehab is the best and only thing that can help him get back to somewhat normality. After his rehab he can hopefully come home. Thats all we want is for him to come home.

Any donations for this will go directly to cover any amount of money owed to the rehab facility, medical bills, or any other costs that will come due to this tragic stroke. I would like to personally thank anybody and everybody in advance that donates to this. Every penny will be put for good use. If anybody has any questions please feel free to reach out to me. I will explain anything that is needed.
