George Hopper Medical Fund

My name is Dustin Noah and I’m starting a GoFundMe for my good friend and co-worker for the past 10 years, George Hopper.  George has developed Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the tonsil and neck.  This type of cancer is becoming more and more common, verging on epidemic.   It does have a fairly high cure rate but getting through it is a challenge.  His course of treatment consists of seven weekly rounds of chemo-therapy with a daily radiation treatment five days a week for the seven week period.

During his treatment, his salivary glands will temporarily become inoperative effecting swallowing and oral health.  His throat area will become painful inside and out requiring installation of a feeding tube as he will not be able to take food orally until healed after treatments.  He will also be dealing with extreme nausea and vomiting from chemo.

George has dedicated his life to helping others and serving his country.  As a young man, he served in the United States Navy.  After serving, George was a fire fighter in Virginia before coming to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he has been working for the past 20 years.  George is currently helping to pay for three college educations for his family.  George basically works every weekend on overtime to pay for these expenses, but will be unable to continue during his treatment and recovery.  He currently has a lot of medical expenses pouring in that he and his family are struggling to pay that are not covered by his insurance provider. 

I am asking my friends and family to help George and his family out financially during these difficult times. If you can’t donate money, a simple Get Well Soon Card would be great!  I’ll send you his address.  All donations will go directly into paying expenses not covered by his insurance.
