My son, George, has ALS & needs help

My son, George Brubaker, 45 years old, was diagnosed with ALS, also know as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. For those of you who are not familiar with this disease, I’ll tell you a little about it. It’s a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. It affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. This disease damages the neuromuscular system, which produce movements like chewing, walking and talking. The disease is progressive, the symptoms get worse over time. Currently, there is no cure for ALS.
For those that know George, know he is an amazing guy. He is so caring, generous and would go to great lengths to please and help his family and friends. He has a great sense of humor and is someone you always want to be around. He married his long time girlfriend, Melissa Brieck, who is the love of his life.
George served in the Airforce, was stationed in several different places during his years of service. He has always been such a hard worker, working long hours and never complained.
Since his diagnosis, he has lost the ability to speak, has trouble swallowing, his arms and hands are very weak and he’s unsteady on his feet. He has muscle spasms, cramps and his muscles are tight and stiff. He is no longer able to work and needs 24 hour care. His wife is his caretaker. Melissa is an angel, she would do anything for him. She never leaves his side.
He sees several different doctors, takes numerous medications orally, and also has infusion therapy that he receives for 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
He needs to have an addition built onto his house, plus a ramp leading from the street into the house to support a wheelchair, hospital bed and other medical equipment because he is unable to climb stairs to get to his bedroom.
The medications, doctor visits and now the addition is overwhelming and is costing well over what they can afford. The money received will go to medical needs and the addition on his house.
