George Evans' recovery campaign

Donation protected

We are friends of an extraordinary man, George Evans, who only yesterday, September 24th 2018, had a large tumour removed from his brain at the QEII in Halifax. The surgery went exceptionally well and he should be home sooner than one could ever imagine. However there will be weeks if not months before he and his wife, Vicki, are back on track.

George has defied all odds by surviving esophageal cancer a number of years ago and we have all the faith in the world that he'll manage it again - he's just that kinda guy -  especially if he gets a little help from his friends.

Having always been a 'dooer', as a cancer survivor, his contagious, optimistic outlook on life has benefitted many. There is not one facet of village life that he hasn't contributed to.... Always the first to put his hand up as volunteer. Overly generous with the little he has. Always with a huge smile.....

Helping George and Vicki cover costs during this time of recovery is a gift we can give back to George. Every little bit helps so please donate if you feel so inclined.

George's nephew, John, posted this on Facebook earlier today:

"Please read my post. I have difficulty at the best of times articulating my thoughts in words, but I will give it a go. We all have issues in life. Problems that bring us down and make us wonder; is it really worth getting out of bed today? These stresses are real and often change who we are during our journey. For those who don't know this; a few days ago I received news that my father's brother, my Uncle and a friend to everyone, has a tumour on his frontal lobe (the size of a tennis ball). My Uncle George is one of the purest, down to earth souls that anyone can meet. He is an intelligent person who see's the positives in everyone. And let it be known this is not his first go-around with a medical condition. Throughout this process he continued to offer support to my Dad and provide those around him with nothing but happiness and love. Never does he speak of sadness, pain or discomfort. He continues to celebrate each day with an unusual zest for life. Vicki was kissing him a lot this weekend -go figure. He just called me minutes ago to share the news (drugged up as you can imagine) that the tumour was removed successfully. Good things happen to good people and I trust he will share the wealth of his personality for many years to come. I could just cry over this news. There is an angel looking after him. Rest up Uncle so Zackary, Chasen and I can enjoy another tour of Chester Basin on your Yacht. I hope your ears are burning because we are all thinking about you. Signed -Your nephew and his boys! "

This photo is of George and Vicki's wedding, 16th September 2017. The same date 2018 found him in the ambulance en route to the hospital.
