Help for Geneva Rush aka Granny

Donation protected
Most people who have passed through Gilmer High School in the past 30 years, know Geneva Rush.  They may only know her as Granny, but she has been cleaning our hallways and taking care of students and faculty since she took the job after her nephew went to pre-k.  She and her husband, Bob Rush, were main stays here.  They lived in a trailer on the GHS property and took care of the school night and day.  After Bob's death, Granny moved out of the trailer, but stayed on the GHS staff taking care of generation after generation of bobcats.  A few years ago, her adult daughter was having some health complications, and she moved in with Granny.  In order to support her, Granny got a second job working nights at Ingles.  She is on her feet all day cleaning at GHS, and then all night at Ingles, and some how, still finds time to volunteer at Faith, Hope, and Charity.  On August 9th 2017, Granny's brother, James Shook, passed away.  On August 21, her daughter, Mary Jones, also died.  At 78 years old, Granny deserves to take a break.  At a point in her life when most people are retired, Granny is not only employeed full time, but working two jobs just to make ends meet.  With medical bills and funeral expenses, I would love to see our little community get together and give back to this woman who has given so much to us.

                                            Much love and God bless,
                                                          Andi Buffington Handley
