A Helping Hand for Gene Ramey

Dearest friends: For 30 years I have known and loved Gene Ramey. Through his generosity and creative philanthropy, hundreds of artists living with AIDS/HIV and other life-threatening illnesses were helped during his years on the board of Visual Aid, five as president. Indeed, it was Gene who introduced me to Visual Aid. Over the years, Gene's kindness and "connectedness" has benefited many people.  A  gallery director, piano teacher at the SF Conservatory of Music -- the list goes on and on. In short, Gene has been the "discoverer" and supporter of hundreds of artists over the years.

Now - it's time to give back to Gene.  Although somewhat less mobile than he would like, but full of creative drive, Gene is still at work: composing music and making art. However, financial setbacks have meant that Gene is not able to help himself as he would like. This campaign is designed to "help Gene help himself": allow him to buy art supplies to paint (he's been producing and extraordinary new set of cards) and record his music -- both efforts that have been making money for him.  To live, and artist must make art.  Help us keep this unique and gifted artist working into his 9th decade.
