Gene Ruley's Hospital Expenses

As many of you know, our friend Gene Ruley had a  significant heart       attack and  is in the hospital, where he'll probably need to be for quite a while.  Although he has insurance, it's expected to cap out pretty fast    due to the extremely high cost of the ICU stays, (at both St Mary's           Hospital and UMC) which require one on one nursing care, and other
potential future procedures, of which there are a couple of options, all  very costly. Money raised will be given to Gene's family, who will use it
for medical expenses and to keep his living expenses up to date, as he's not expected to be returning to work for an extended period. 

Gene's an intensely private guy. We all know that. The first time I met
one of his sisters, I jokingly asked if she had any good embarrassing
Gene teen year stories to tell... "Not really," she said, "mostly he was in his bedroom playing guitar, learning Kiss and Led Zeppelin songs."  I
only add this because a few of us are imagining Gene might want to
strangle us when he finds out we've started this fund, but his lovely
sisters have given us a very grateful go ahead, and that's what we're
doing.
