Gene Fleenor Memorial

Gene Fleenor passed away on January 8, 2021. He overcame various aliments over the years, beginning with a "run-in" with a bull in 1994 that led to several surgeries along with other aging-related conditions.  However, you could also say that many of his ailments began with a broken heart when his son Darrin was killed by a drunk driver in 1985. Through the years he did the best he could to take care of his wife and family despite his declining health.  Around Christmas time this year, his skin began to show a yellow tint, so he went to the hospital to get things checked out. They found that a bile duct was blocked in his gall bladder. While performing an operation to place a stent, they found a mass on his pancreas that was causing the blockage. They determined that a biopsy on the pancreas could cause significant damage and they could not provide further treatment.  He came home on hospice care on Wednesday and passed on Friday (01/08/2021). 

Nita has been his devoted wife for 59 years. In fact, January 6 was their anniversary.  Although the "kids," Dennis, Jeff, Amy, and Steve, and grand kids, will do all they can to take care of their Mom/Nana, they have set up this GoFundMe account to allow her to maintain some sense of independence and help with expenses. She doesn't want to feel like a burden to anyone, but we know many people have loved and appreciated Gene and Nita over the years and might want to help her now with a financial contribution in lieu of flowers or other donations.
