On October 14th we lost our father, husband, grand-father, coach, teacher, mentor, and friend. The outpouring of support from all of our friends, family, and community has been overwhelming.
Dad was the most caring and compassionate man that you could ever meet. His mission in life was to impact youth and he dedicated his life to serving the school and community. He spent more than 45 years coaching and teaching kids in the local school districts. Even after he retired in 2013 he continued to volunteer coach, substitute teach, and teach drivers education because of his love for kids and desire to “stay young”.
His impact is far reaching and felt by many. To honor his legacy and continue to impact the youth in the community we are establishing the Gene Chinander Memorial Fund. Donations will be used to establish a scholarship fund in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations towards this fund. Donations may also be made in person to the Gene Chinander Memorial Fund at Lincoln Savings Bank in Allison or Greene, IA.
