<div>I always loved to find new names for myself, so you might know me as Zam or Matshid. Feel free to use whichever of these three ones:)

<div>I am a nonbinary person from Germany. I am 24 years old. I am a contemporary performer and creator with my background in circus and theatre now dancing and melting the arts together to tell my stories through body and voice, paper, pause and play.

<div>When I am not moving I love to draw, drink coffee, smoke a bit too many cigarettes lately and spend time with wonderful friends.

<div>Most of all I am me. I was always me, always nonbinary, but unfortunately didn’t know most of my life that this was even an option.
</div>

<div>Before puberty I was pretty sure I was a boy and maybe I was, I didn’t think about it too much. I just felt as one, dressed as one, always liked to chose new names, nobody cared too much.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When puberty hit (yep it also got me, I thought it might skip me if I just continued to be a child) I was devasted to find how my body changed and how it grew into something I couldn’t quite understand or relate to.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I never agreed to this, nobody asked me if I want this changes to happen. I never wanted my body to grow two breasts.
</div>
<div>My body became softer, it started bleeding. I was confused and ashamed. Something was wrong. I didn’t recognise me anymore.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I started to think constantly of ways how to lose weight, to eat less sugar or fats to reduce the size of my breasts, make my muscles more visible, felt bad when I didn’t do „enough“ sports a day. Back then I wouldn’t have considered this an eating disorder at all, now I know it was one.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I wanted to grow taller and was always confused if I had a crush on or wanted to be like some boys I knew. I always wanted my face to be less soft, my breast to be smaller, invisible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It didn’t work, my breasts stayed and grew and my body evolved in a way that did not represented how I felt inside. As much as I tried to love myself and just accept, I couldn’t just feel comfortable or like what I saw in the mirror or others saw when they looked at me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What is crazy to me now, is that I think at some point I „gave up“ on the thought that I had the power or the ability to actually feel right in my body one day.
</div>
<div>Before two years ago I haven’t even thought about the option of getting a topsurgery, taking testosterone etc.
</div>
<div>It completely didn’t occur to me, because I believed that these ways of medical transitioning are just for Trans* people, which coulf have definitely not been me, because I didn’t want to operate my genitals, so obviously I was not trans*…
</div>

<div>It’s very sad to me now, my lack of knowledge and understanding of trans* people back then and about the endless possibilities of transitioning or finding your identity and that there is no „one right way“. 
</div>
<div>It’s ok little Animo . You’ve learned a lot a lot a lot and you keep on learning.
</div>

</div>
<div>It’s been also quite recent since I first heard the term „nonbinary“ and even more recent since I actually understood what it means and that it’s the safe space and haven that I didn’t know I was searching for.I feel I finally arrived to at least knowing „what“ I am and where and to whom I feel I belong to.
</div>

</div>
<div>Since puberty I tried to somehow squeeze in this box of what I thought what it means to be a girl and woman. For some time I even believed I was ok in there somehow, even though my body gave me warning signs every day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Luckily I met the right people and found myself in the right surrounding to talk about this for the first time, asking questions, share, tame some shame and gain some pride and finally feel safe enough to change my pronouns from she/ her to they/ them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every time people used these pronouns for me I felt a shower of bliss and euphoria washing over my head and neckhair and I still feel it sometimes, especially from people that I told about me not long ago.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With all these amazing showers of revelation and euphoria came also big waves of dysphoria, stress and anxiety crushing on me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Finally I knew why I never liked my body, but by knowing came even more awareness and dysphoria for every tiny part that didn’t match with my perception of myself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I started wearing binders, which made me feel so so much better but breathe worse.
</div>
<div>When I shaved my head in April 2025 I felt free but suddenly there was nothing to hide anymore and my face disphoria reached a peak that I hadn’t experienced before.
</div>

</div>
<div>Since January 24 I started therapy which helped me a lot on my way until here and helped me figure out if top surgery would be a good step for me. And it’s so clear to me now. Yes yes yes!
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I know that this operation will of course not just make disappear all my problems, disphoria and unease but it will take a big emotional weight off my chest and will bring me a big step closer to who I feel I am. Just the thought of wearing open shirts, tanktops, suits or just tight shirts after the surgery give me a crazy feeling of joy and relieve.

<div>As for non-binary people the costs for a gender affirming top surgery is not covered by ensurances I am opening this crowdfund and ask all of you for help.
</div>

<div>The operation inclusive, the stay there for one night, the medical binder and an insurance for possible corrections or complications will cost ca. 9.500€.

<div>Ich war immer ich, schon immer nichtbinär, aber leider wusste ich bis vor Kurzem nicht, dass das überhaupt eine Option war.

<div>Vor der Pubertät war ich ziemlich sicher, dass ich ein Junge bin, und vielleicht war ich auch einer.
</div>

<div>Ich hab mir nie so wirklich Gedanken darüber gemacht. Ich fühlte mich einfach so, zog mich so an, gab mir ständig neue Namen und es hat niemanden wirklich gejuckt.
</div>

</div>
<div>Als ich in die Pubertät kam (ja, sie hat auch mich erwischt, ich dachte immer, sie würde mich vielleicht übersehen, wenn ich einfach weiter auf Bäume klettern und in meinen Papierwelten leben würde), war ich total verwirrt, als ich merkte, wie sich mein Körper veränderte und zu etwas wurde, das ich nicht wirklich verstanden oder gefühlt habe.

<div>Ich habe nie zugestimmt, dass das passiert. Niemand hat mich gefragt, ob ich diese Veränderungen wollte. Ich wollte keine Frau werden, wollte diese Brüste nicht, diese Schublade nicht.

<div>Mein Körper wurde weicher, ich fing an zu bluten und war völlig überfordert. Irgendwas war nicht richtig. Ich erkannte mich selbst nicht mehr.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ich begann, ständig darüber nachzudenken, wie ich abnehmen könnte, weniger Zucker oder anderen Süßkram essen könnte, um die Größe meiner Brüste zu verringern, meine Muskeln sichtbarer zu machen. Ich fühlte mich schlecht, wenn ich nicht genug Sport gemacht hatte. Damals hätte ich das nie als Essstörung bezeichnet, heute weiß ich, dass es eine war.

<div>Ich wollte immer größer sein und war oft verwirrt, ob ich in einige Jungs, die ich kannte, verknallt war oder ob ich sein wollte wie sie. Ich wollte, dass mein Gesicht weniger weich ist, meine Brüste kleiner oder am besten unsichtbar.
</div>
<div>Es hat nicht funktioniert, meine Brüste blieben und wuchsen, und mein Körper entwickelte sich auf eine Weise, die einfach nicht zu dem passte, wie ich mich innerlich fühlte.
</div>

<div>So sehr ich versuchte, mich selbst zu lieben und zu akzeptieren, ich konnte mich einfach nicht wohlfühlen oder mögen, was ich im Spiegel sah oder was andere in mir sahen.
</div>

<div>Was ich rückblickend krass finde ist, dass ich glaube ich irgendwann den Gedanken aufgegeben habe, dass ich jemals die Kontrolle über meinen Körper haben würde, um mich wirklich „richtig“ zu fühlen.

</div>
<div>Vor zwei Jahren war ich noch so weit davon entfernt überhaupt über eine Brust-OP oder Testosteron nachzudenken.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ich dachte damals, dass diese Wege der medizinischen transition nur für Trans*personen sind, und das konnte definitiv nicht ich sein, da ich ja nicht vorhatte, meine Genitalien operieren zu lassen. Das bedeutet ja ganz offensichtlich, dass ich nicht Trans* sein konnte…

<div>Es macht mich traurig, wie wenig ich damals über Trans*identität, Gender und die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten zu transitionen wusste und dass es nicht nur „einen richtigen Weg“ gibt.

<div>Aber es ist okay, kleines Animo. Du hast viel gelernt und du lernst immer noch so viel.
</div>

<div>Erst vor ca drei Jahren habe ich den Begriff „nichtbinär“ zum ersten Mal gehört und noch später habe ich erst verstanden, was das bedeutet und dass es genau der Raum ist, den ich gesucht habe, aber noch nicht wusste, dass ich ihn brauchte.

<div>Jetzt fühle ich mich endlich angekommen, zumindest weiß ich jetzt „was“ ich bin und, dass es viele Menschen gibt, die sich wie ich nicht in das binäre Geschlechtersystem einfügen können.

<div>Seit der Pubertät habe ich versucht, irgendwie in diese Box zu passen, von der ich dachte, dass sie „Mädchen“ oder „Frau“ bedeutet.

<div>Zum Glück habe ich die richtigen Leute getroffen und ein Umfeld gefunden, in dem ich das erstmals ansprechen konnte. Ich konnte Fragen stellen, mich mit meiner Scham und meinen Ängsten auseinandersetzen, viel Mut gewinnen und mich endlich sicher genug fühlen, um meine Pronomen von „sie/ihr“ zu „they/them“ zu ändern.

<div>Jedes Mal, wenn Menschen diese Pronomen für mich verwendet haben, fühlte sich das an, als würde mir ein Eimer voller Glück über den Kopf gekippt werden. Und es passiert immer noch manchmal, vor allem bei Leuten, denen ich erst kürzlich von mir erzählt habe.

<div>Mit all diesen wundervollen Momenten der Erleichterung und Euphorie kamen aber auch große Wellen an Dysphorie, Stress und Anxiety.
</div>

<div>Endlich wusste ich, warum ich meinen Körper nie mochte, aber mit diesem Wissen kam noch mehr Bewusstsein für alles, was nicht mit meinem inneren Bild von mir selbst übereinstimmte.

<div>Ich fing an, Binder zu tragen, was mich so viel besser fühlen, aber schlechter Atmen ließ.
</div>

<div>Als ich mir im April 2025 die Haare abrasierte, fühlte ich mich frei, aber plötzlich gab es nichts mehr, dass von meinem Gesicht ablenkte und meine Gesichtsdysphorie erreichte einen Punkt, den ich vorher nicht gekannt hatte.

<div>Ich weiß, dass diese OP natürlich nicht all meine Probleme und Dysphorie auf einmal in Luft auflösen wird, aber sie wird mir ein riesiges emotionales Gewicht von der Brust nehmen und mich ein großes Stück näher bringen, zu dem Menschen, der ich wirklich bin.
