Genalyn is a single mother of 5. She had her own small business doing nails and makeup for clients in her neighborhood of the small town of Balud (near Tacloban City on the island of Leyte in the Philippines), earning just enough money to pay her bills, feed her family and keep her children in school.
She became ill in 2017 and could no longer see her clients. She had barely enough money to begin a small convenience store in which her 2 oldest children could help. That was enough until the government began arresting the local fishermen for illegal fishing, which was the major industry in the area.
Her illness was finally diagnosed last year when a large tumor developed on her neck. I began to try to help her raise money to pay her bills, feed her children, see doctors for tests, labs, etc. In November, we thought 130,000 PHP (Philippine pesos = $2,500 USD) was enough to pay for her surgery and recovery in the hospital.
The doctors discovered a 2nd growth in her nasal passage & decided surgery would not be appropriate, and she would need radiation and chemotherapy. She was in a lot of pain, had difficulty breathing and could only swallow small amounts of fruit and vegetable puree. Her condition worsened every day.
Her doctor recently determined that stem cell therapy will be the best treatment and the highest probability of survival. She began the treatments in early June and has experienced positive results.
Unfortunately, I have been depleting every source of money I have available to me and cannot continue to help her much longer without the generosity of others. I must continue to help in any way possible because I cannot bear the thought that her children will be forced to watch her die a very slow, painful and agonizing death.
Please help Genalyn pay for her treatments and survive for her children.
I have copies of all her medical documents if proof is needed for veracity. firstname.lastname@example.org
