<div>Am 17. April 2025 veränderte ein einziger Moment im Meer in Malaysia auf der Insel Langkawi sein ganzes Leben. Ein Sprung in eine Welle führte zu einer <strong>schweren Verletzung der Halswirbelsäule</strong>. Mehrere Halswirbel wurden dabei beschädigt, und es kam zu einer Berstungsfraktur des sechsten Halswirbels (C6). Der Aufprall war nicht besonders stark. Entscheidend war der ungünstige Winkel, der zur schweren Verletzung der Halswirbelsäule führte. Die neurologischen Schäden sind massiv. Luca trug keine weitere Verletzungen davon, nicht einmal oberflächliche Hautverletzungen.

<div>Seit diesem Moment ist Luca <strong>ab Brusthöhe gelähmt</strong> und kann seine <strong>Beine und Finger nicht mehr bewegen</strong> und spüren. Er ist auf Hilfe im Alltag angewiesen und kann im Moment noch nicht selbstständig leben.

<div>Luca hat sein Leben lang gesund gelebt, war extrem sportlich und im <strong>Triathlon auf Leistungsniveau</strong> unterwegs. Er ist engagiert im Vereinsleben, hat ein FSJ gemacht und besitzt eine Trainer-C-Lizenz im Breitensport für Kinder und Jugendliche. Er stand mitten im <strong>Studium der Wirtschaftsingenieurwissenschaften</strong>, voller Zukunftspläne.

<div>Noch in Malaysia wurde Luca notoperiert. Der zerstörte Halswirbel wurde entfernt, durch ein Titanimplantat ersetzt und mit C5 und C7 stabil verschraubt, um das Rückenmark zu entlasten. Die <strong>Ärzte haben ihm das Leben gerettet</strong>. Er wäre beinahe ertrunken und musste anschließend rund <strong>sechs Wochen künstlich beatmet</strong> werden, bevor er endlich wieder selbstständig atmen konnte.

<div>Nach der Erstversorgung wurde Luca nach Deutschland transportiert und zunächst in der <strong>BG-Klinik Murnau</strong> behandelt. Seit Ende Oktober befindet er sich in der <strong>Reha in Beelitz-Heilstätten</strong>, wo er mit beeindruckender Disziplin kämpft, Tag für Tag, Rückschlag für Rückschlag, Fortschritt für Fortschritt.

<div>Und es gibt Fortschritte.
</div>
<div><strong>Erste Muskeln unterhalb der Lähmungshöhe zeigen Aktivität</strong>, Luca kann wieder seinen Trizeps ansteuern, er spürt zunehmend seine Beine, und im Stehpult kann er mit Unterstützung stehen. Es sind kleine Schritte. Aber entscheidende Schritte. Sie zeigen, dass <strong>sein Nervensystem reagiert</strong> und <strong>weitere Fortschritte möglich</strong> sind.

<div>Momentan befindet sich Luca in der wichtigsten Phase der Regeneration:

<div>Die Zeit jetzt, die kommenden Monate, entscheiden darüber, wie viel Motorik und Sensibilität zurückkehrt.

<div>Um Lucas Heilung maximal zu fördern, benötigt er<strong> Zugang zu intensiven Behandlungen und moderner Neurotherapie</strong>, die <strong>nicht oder nur teilweise von der Krankenkasse übernommen</strong> werden. Der zusätzliche finanzielle Bedarf beläuft sich auf insgesamt rund <strong>110.000 €</strong>:

<div>•	<strong>Trainingsequipment für zuhause</strong>, damit Luca täglich weitertrainieren kann, ein entscheidender Faktor für neurologische Erholung. (19.000 €)

<div>•	<strong>Hilfsmittel und Alltagsanpassungen</strong>, damit Luca so selbstständig wie möglich leben kann. (20.000 €)

<div>Luca bringt <strong>außergewöhnliche Voraussetzungen</strong> mit, <strong>enorme Willenskraft</strong> und einen <strong>unerschütterlichen Kampfgeist</strong>. Doch für den Weg zurück in ein selbstbestimmtes Leben braucht er <strong>Unterstützung</strong>.

<div>Together for Luca – From 100 to 0 after a Spinal Cord Injury
</div>

<div>Dear friends, family, and supporters,

<div>We are reaching out to you today on behalf of our friend, Luca.
</div>
<div>Before April 2025, Luca was living and loving life. He was a dedicated industrial engineering student, a committed social volunteer, and a high-level triathlete. He held a C-level coaching license, training children and youth, passing on his love for sports. He was healthy, active, and full of plans for the future.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>*Then, in a single second, everything changed.*</strong>
</div>
<div>On April 17, 2025, while swimming off the island of Langkawi in Malaysia, Luca dove into a wave, but an unfortunate angle resulted in a catastrophic impact. Luca suffered a burst fracture of the sixth cervical vertebra (C6), causing severe damage to his spinal cord.
</div>
<div>In that moment, Luca went from an elite athlete to fighting for his life. He was paralyzed from the chest down immediately. He was rushed to emergency surgery in Malaysia, where doctors replaced the destroyed vertebra with a titanium implant and stabilized his spine to relieve pressure. Following the surgery, he required artificial ventilation for six weeks before he could breathe on his own again.

<div><strong>*The Current Situation*</strong>
</div>
<div>Luca has since been transported back to Germany. After initial treatment at the BG Clinic in Murnau, he moved to rehabilitation at Beelitz-Heilstätten in late October.
</div>

</div>
<div>Currently, Luca cannot move or feel his legs or fingers. He relies on assistance for all daily tasks and cannot yet live independently. But Luca has not lost his spirit. He approaches rehab with the same discipline he applied to triathlons, facing it day after day, setback after setback, milestone by milestone.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>*And there is still hope!*</strong>
</div>
<div>We are seeing the first sparks of recovery. Muscles below the injury level are beginning to activate. Luca has regained movement in his triceps, sensation is slowly returning to his legs, and—with the help of a standing frame—he is upright once again. These are small steps, but they are vital signals that his nervous system is responding.

<div>Luca is currently in the most critical phase of neuro-regeneration. The next few months will determine how much motor function and independence he can regain. To maximize this window of opportunity, Luca needs access to specialized treatments often not fully covered by insurance. The costs amount to approximately 110.000 €.
