Gelimar's Cancer Fund

Donation protected
As of 10/09/2023 Gelimar has returned to medical leave through the new year due to chronic infections and surgery related to her new life long chronic immunocompromised status and monthly IVIG infusions at the cancer center for the foreseeable future. Gelimar is coping as best she can while parenting Gemma and spending time with her fellow AYA cancer survivor/ patient friends. Thank you

As of Spring of 2023 Gelimar is undergoing continuous highly monitored medical treatment at the Cancer Center due to the complications of her case and the Car-T that saved her life. Gelimar at this time remains in remission, but is still actively sick and severely immunocompromised and awaiting surgery. Please help continue to keep vulnerable cancer patients like Gelimar with severe immunocompromisation safe by vaccinating and continued masking when possible in public spaces.

On 04/04/2022 I was told there was a 99% chance I was cancer free. My oncologist, who I rarely get to see, paraded me around the hospital and shouted the news. I rang bells. I cried happy tears. I told my daughter. I made plans. Friday 04/08/2022 I got a call that I was in the one percent. A finding so rare there is no standard written medical guide forward. I will need a new kind of treatment and like the last it will be aggressive. Today I will learn timelines. Procedures. Next steps. I will get a port put into my chest soon. I am completely heartbroken, there are no words.

Initial post December 2021:
I am living proof that sometimes life will throw you curve balls.

As many of you know these past few weeks I’ve been struggling with an unknown neurological issue, with a whole team of doctors struggling to get to the root cause. Just a week before I was supposed to start my new job and next step up as a single mother, I found myself in the emergency room, hearing the word "cancer." After several days of tests and uncertainty, I was diagnosed with a non-Hodgkins B-cell lymphoma called Burkitt’s Lymphoma.

So here I am today, despite it all, still taking that next step forward and catching the curveball that life has thrown at me. I plan to continue to push forward for myself, for Gemma, and for the goals I have for our lives.

Today, I am three days into Modified Magrath chemo for my first cycle of cancer treatment. I am asking friends, family, and kind people to share this GoFundMe so that I can move forward as an example to my daughter of what it means to stand up and meet any curveball head-on. I will lose many things in this process—my hair, mainly—but I will not lose myself, and I will not lose my daughter. We will come out on the other side of this as stronger women together.

I will not lie and say that I am not scared. As I rise to meet this challenge, I welcome and appreciate time, flexibility, and support from those who know and love me <3
