Geist Twins: Edward and Kevin Jr.

Donation protected
The day before Father’s Day, Marjorie, an artist, and Kevin, a special education teacher, celebrated the news that they were expecting twins. There were two strong heartbeats on the ultrasound, and there was no doubt in their mind they were blessed.

A week after hearing the news, Marjorie was told her company was doing restructuring and after almost 12 years the position was no longer hers. Still, despite the financial challenges they were very excited about their growing family.

A few months later, halfway through the pregnancy, Marjorie and Kevin received devastating news. They were told one of the babies, who they named Edward, had no amniotic fluid because of Preterm Premature Rupture Of Membrane (PPROM). Marjorie’s health and the health of the pregnancy were in danger.

On September 21, the contractions began and Marjorie, with a heavy heart, gave birth to her babies. No one expected the silence that came after their birth. There were no cries from Edward and Kevin Jr., no words that could drown the silence, and no tears of joy…just pain and sorrow. Their strong hearts continued to beat an hour after they were born, and they were surrounded by love the whole time.

This is every expecting parents’ nightmare: to plan funerals for their babies. Then came some news that has almost been too much to bear: Marjorie and Kevin’s insurance did not cover some of the medical expenses. Now Marjorie and Kevin are struggling financially, their dream to have a family on hold indefinitely.

The purpose of this GoFundme is primarily to help pay off medical bills. Once that goal has been reached, any additional funds would go towards the necessary procedures to fulfill their dream of starting a family. Once they are back on their feet, Marjorie wants to become a spokesperson for PPROM to increase awareness, begin raising funds for research, and help families who have experienced this same loss.

Not many people understand how much is lost when a baby dies, let alone when you lose twins. You lose the joy of their first steps taken, first day of school pictures, birthday wishes, Christmas mornings and a lifetime of small precious joyous moments.

For the holidays we would love to give them the peace of mind they need to heal and move forward. Please donate.
