<div>Jane Reacq is de zus van mijn vriend Randy en dus mijn schoonzus. Vorig jaar, op zaterdag 3 september veranderde haar leven voorgoed. Tijdens de laatste BMX wedstrijd van dat seizoen kwam ze ten val en brak ze verschillende rug- en nekwervels. Van tweede en derde van Europa en vierde op de wereldkampioenschappen naar verlamd vanaf haar borst zonder enige hand- en tricepfunctie.

<div>Je kunt je voorstellen dat dit een nachtmerrie is…
</div>
<div>Van onafhankelijke, jonge meid, naar 'gevangen' in je eigen lichaam. De vanzelfsprekendheid van en in het leven is weg.

<div>Nadat ze een maand lang in het Belgische ziekenhuis lag (waar het ongeluk gebeurde) mocht ze eind september naar de Sint Maartenkliniek voor revalidatie. Inmiddels verblijft ze nog altijd in deze kliniek en is ze, samen met haar vriend, drukdoende met de zoektocht naar een geschikte woning, maar ook naar een rolstoelbus.

<div>Om een stukje vrijheid terug te krijgen, is deze rolstoelbus nodig. Omdat de bus voor het ombouwen naar rolstoelbus niet ouder mag zijn dan drie jaar zijn de prijzen hoog. De bussen kosten tussen de €40000,- en €50000,-.

<div>Als extra motivatie om te blijven knokken, maar ook om een bijdrage op te halen voor de aanschaf van alle hulpmiddelen die ze nodig gaat hebben in de toekomst, zijn we deze doneeractie gestart.

<div>Een vrijwillige bijdrage zouden we enorm waarderen, want iedere euro telt!

<div>Jane Reacq is the sister of my boyfriend Randy and therefore my sister-in-law. Last year, on Saturday september 3rd, her life changed forever. During the last BMX competition of that season, she crashed and broke several vertebrae in her back and neck. From second and third in Europe and fourth in the BMX World Championships to being paralyzed from the chest down without any hand and tricep function.

<div>You can image what a nightmare this is..

<div>All the sudden everything changed. From independant, young girl, to ‘trapped’ in her own body. Nothing in life is to be taken for granted anymore.

<div>After a month in the Belgian hospital (where the accident happened) she was allowed to go to the Sint Maarten clinic for rehabilitation at the end of September. She is now still staying in this clinic, and, together with her boyfriend, she is busy looking

<div>for a suitable home, but also for a wheelchair van.
</div>

<div>To regain a bit of freedom, this wheelchair van is needed. Because the van cannot
</div>
<div>be older than three years before being converted into a wheelchair van, the
</div>
<div>prices are high.

<div>The van cost between €40,000 and €50,000. As extra

<div>motivation to keep fighting, but also to collect a contribution for the
</div>
<div>purchase of all the tools she will need in the future, we have started this
</div>
<div>donation campaign.
