Let's Get 'em Gear - Safety Equipment for Doctors
Donation protected
I recently learned that several NYC hospitals needed protective equipment beyond masks that could still be bought — specifically, goggles, fingertip pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors and intubation boxes. These items are all available to buy and/or fabricate on the open market through reputable suppliers and this is a desperate ask. Contributions so far have funded hundreds goggles for frontline emergency and inpatient doctors and portable pulse oximeters so doctors & nurses can check on patient O2 sats without entering isolation rooms unnecessarily. We still need more goggles and pulse oximeters, as well as blood pressure monitors and, especially intubation boxes. Intubation boxes are an incredibly simple yet powerful device in the protective arsenal that surrounds patients when doctors have to intubate patients who need to go on respirators — this is the riskiest procedure with COVID+ patients.
How funds raised to date have been deployed:
-100 Pairs of Safety Goggles for Frontline Doctors
-40 Portable Fingertip Pulse Oximeters
-10 Intubation Boxes
-100 Batteries for Pulse Oximeters
All to Bellevue & the VA Manhattan Hospitals
What we still have to fund:
-Up to 40 Additional Intubation Boxes
-40 Blood Pressure Monitors
-400 Batteries for Blood Pressure Monitors
-10 Reusable Respirator Replacement Filters
Remember, doctors can't treat patient if they are sick. Please contribute to help meet this need - 100% of contributions go towards purchasing supplies for frontline healthcare workers in NYC.
