Blessings for Brittany

On Saturday, February 17, Brittany Blair Cheek, Corey’s wife, awoke unable to move her left leg and soon lost use of her left arm, three hospitals via ambulance and several hours later, she was diagnosed at the Cleveland Clinc, Ohio, with two brain tumors and one lung tumor. Doctors there had actually begun watching the lung growth a few months earlier after it was captured by chance on a scan for abdominal issues.
After she had a lung biopsy (the location of the smaller tumor in the fall had made a biopsy too risky at that time) and brain surgery to remove blood and decrease the pressure, Brittany was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. On Thursday, March 1, she had gamma knife radiation surgery on the brain tumors to decrease the size of the tumors and will have follow up gamma knife radiation in about a month.
As of right now, doctors are working to stabilize the brain pressure and decrease steroids. They then plan to treat the melanoma via targeted therapy, administer immunotherapy, and begin physical therapy.
Brittany’s Mom, Sonja, is staying in Ohio indefinitely to be with Brittany through her hospital stay, treatments, PT, ect. Her dad, Randy, will be there frequently to help as well. Corey’s parents, Sherrie & Stephen, carried Hudson (9) and Gabby (5) to Mississippi to care for them and continue their homeschooling.
Corey and Brittany have a large network of friends due to their upbringing, education, and careers. They have connections to Olive Branch, Southaven, Kosciusko, Ms National Guard, Ole Miss, USM, Holmes CC, Delta State University, Oxford, Biloxi, Gulfport, Tupelo, and Cleveland in Ms; Columbia (SC); Arlington and Keller Tx); Avon, Avon Lake and Bedford Heights (OH); Social Security Admin; Sherwin-Williams and Faurecia.
Friends and family and neighbors and acquaintances and so many people who don’t even know Brittany or this precious family have offered prayer after prayer for Brittany. The family is so appreciative of the prayers and is whitnessing their power.
In addition to the prayer support, the family has been blessed by gifts of food, frozen meals, ect. as well as by people volunteering their time and talents to assist in various ways.
To help with the mounting medical costs as well as the staggering expenses to follow, I am setting up this account for those people who have felt at a loss concerning how to help, any monetary gift, no matter the amount, will be a blessing as Brittany puts in the tough work ahead to return home as soon as she can to be with Corey, Hudson, and Gabby.
