Costa Rica (Mission Trip)

Donation protected
Dr. Johnson and members of the Acre Wood Dental team will be visiting Costa Rica to provide dental services for families in underprivileged communities. We have also partnered up with Abraham Project, a Christian non-profit organization, located in San Jose, Costa Rica. We will be helping provide Christmas for fourteen orphaned children there. We are excited about this opportunity and wanted to offer those with a desire, the chance to get involved. If you are interested in participating in this unique service experience, please reply to this email.

You can participate in the following way:

- Donate money toward clothes or toys (100% of your donation will go toward gifts)

*More information about the Abraham Project is written below. You can also learn more by visiting abrahamproject.org.

If it isn’t possible for you to give right now, please consider sharing news about these children in need with your friends, family and colleagues through Facebook, Twitter, email or word-of-mouth. We feel blessed to be in a position where we can extend the benefits of oral health to those without access to quality care. We deeply appreciate your considering making the holiday season brighter for these children.

Sincerely,

Dr. Benjamin Johnson
Acre Wood Dental

*The Children’s Homes at the Abraham Project are one of the five ministry areas. At this time there are three homes, two of which are operating with a maximum capacity.

These Children’s Homes are unique because they function with a family model. Each home is run primarily by a set of house parents called “tios”, who live in the home with their own children.

The children we receive at the Abraham Project come from difficult situations where it was necessary to remove them from their homes. About half of these children will be returned to their parents or other family members. The other half will eventually be declared ‘abandoned,’ which means that all parental rights are removed and the PANI (Costa Rican child welfare) begins to search for an adoptive family. The adoptions out of the Abraham Project are about 50/50 international to domestic adoptions.

In order to maintain their right to raise the children in a Christian environment, the Abraham Project does not receive any funding from the Costa Rican government.
