Help Bring our Baby Goats Home!

Donation protected
Several people have asked if we have a fundraising page, so I am creating this for them.
Any proceeds will go to getting our fur babies back and helping to overturn this archaic urban farming law in Detroit.

Kibbutz in Dire Need of Help!

Filed under: Uncategorized. (edit)This morning all of our fur babies were kidnapped by the city of Detroit.

David and I had just come home from dropping a dear friend off at a train station in Canada and had just sat down to eat when there was a knock on the door. We opened the door to a very unfriendly Animal Control Officer named Officer Crosby. She immediately yelled at us to not let the dogs out. (They are tiny dogs)

She began insisting that we give her our ids and barraging us with questions.

She told us she was taking all of our animals. I began to cry and asked her if I could just take them to the farm that I got them from. She said, “yes”. David, Michael and I ran and grabbed the kids and put them in the car. Officer Crosby then blocked my car into the driveway. I had to drive through the yard to get passed her… AFTER she had given us her consent to take the animals out of the city…

This so called officer than sent cops with their lights on chasing after me. I immediately pulled over to find two extremely friendly and polite Detroit police officers. These men clearly felt for me. I was sobbing and begging them just to help me and let me take my animals to a safe place. The police officers argued with this angry woman for about twenty minutes. They tried to convince her to allow me to take my animals safely out of the city. I applaud these men and am extremely grateful to them.

Apparently, this  officer  “was just doing her job” and had a spiteful axe to grind. She forced me to carry my babies into the back of her truck one at a time. They screamed and cried, as did I.

She then followed us back to my house and chased after my poor chickens with a net. I begged her not to use the net and to let me catch them myself. She refused. She chased them as they squawked in fear.

I have never been this devastated or heart broken in my life. These animals were like our children. We have zero neighbors close by and the ones we do have are wonderful people.

I have no idea what precipitated this. We have had zero interactions with animal control or the police since we have been here. We are quiet and we clean up the neighborhood. We invite the entire neighborhood over to our gatherings. We are kind, loving people, trying to build community in this city of decay.

There are gun shots every night. There are meth addicts blowing up houses within blocks of us, and the city of Detroit finds it more relevant to rip screaming pets out of the hands of their devastated owners.

Officer Crosby told me I would never see my animals again. She refused to tell me where they were being taken. David called Animal Control and they were equally unhelpful and refused to interact with us in anyway.

We are in dire need of help. I can not go to sleep tonight, not knowing where my friends are. They are probably terrified right now. They are alone, and don’t have their things. I begged this woman to just let me send their little house with their straw so something smelled like home… and she refused.

We are reaching out to anyone that can help us.
