Inspiring students before their GCSEs
In 2020, thousands of young people across Bristol will go through one of the hardest times of their lives, by getting ready to sit their GCSES.
As someone who has worked in education for many years, I'm really passionate about helping young people in Bristol understand their true worth.
I have designed an event aimed to boosting morale, installing confidence, and allowing learners to see their true worth before their first exam in May.
GCSE Boost 2020 is a live, two-hour seminar (think Ted Talks, but for young people) presented to young people across Bristol, featuring four key speakers from their field: From confidence-building, mental health, nutrition and diet and a student about to sit their GCSEs themselves.
They will all offer a range of advice from exam techniques, wellbeing and inspiration to diet and goal setting within the next five weeks for all who attend, so learners leave with a sense of positive purpose to help them start on the Monday into the five weeks of their exams.
My goal is to hire out the Lansdown Suite at Ashton Gate Stadium with a view to getting 500 students attending with 500 of their parents or carers.
I need to raise £3,000 for venue hire and for advertising.
I hope to include all Bristol schools, as they have been very helpful with my assemblies and this is about bettering the emotional wellbeing of every learner in Bristol.
This event is an idea I have had for more than a year, and 2020 is the year I wish to turn it into a reality.
What's also important to say is this event will be free to students, so personally I am not going to be making anything from it.
I would like to, if I can, run workshops for the hard-to-reach groups within schools, for those who might not be able to make the event.
