I am reaching out on behalf of my aunt, Santina Michelli Kelly, to help her and her family overcome some financial burden due to her illness. Some of you may or may not know, but over 5 years ago she was diagnosed with Stage III Breast Cancer. She is extremely loved as a mother of 3, a sister, a daughter, a wife—and has become a Nana twice during the illness. Her kids are 26, 12, and 10 and her grandkids are 3 and 1.
After being diagnosed, she went through the required surgeries, radiation, and chemo sessions and had a little break from the torturous things required to try and rid her of the cancer. At that time, she did not know how much more treatments she was going to need—but we know now, it has been never ending.
Two years later, the cancer came back aggressively into her bones. She had a bad one on her spine by her neck and had to have surgery to put vertebrae in to replace the one the tumor broke. Fast forward another two years and the big tumors are back taking over her fragile body—one as big as a softball. She also has them on her ribs, spine, and pelvis. This summer, she has gone through 3 different Chemos as well as having ports put in for the chemo. The one she is currently on is called The Red Devil because it is so aggressively strong. Unfortunately, the previous two did not work.
Now she is in Breast Cancer Stage IV metastasized into her bones and lungs. A few weeks ago, she underwent yet another surgery—this time on her lung. This has led her to be on oxygen indefinitely. The medical bills, deductibles, and copays are piling up and they have been struggling for the last two years. All those bills are finally catching up to their family. She has not been able to work for the last few years. She still has quite the journey and the burden is only going to get worse. The funds provided by all you gracious family, friends, and strangers will help alleviate some of the stress of the financial load this cancer has caused her family.
This GoFundMe has been created by members of our family to help our sister and aunt. Among those of us seeking to help are her two sisters Dawn Michelli and Dana Withaeger, her brother Sam Michelli, her niece Angela Montgomery, and her nephew Ronnie Withaeger.
