GREATER BIRMINGHAM HUMANE SOCIETY (GBHS) CANINE AND FELINE QUALITY OF LIFE ENHANCEMENT PROJECTS – GOAL $3,500 desired by January 31, 2023.
We are requesting your financial support in championing two projects to substantially improve the GBHS Spay/Neuter and Critical Care Clinic that helps serve the 17,000+ abandoned / abused dogs and cats that transition annually thru GBHS for medical care, adoption, and other services.
LARGE DOG PEN RESTORATION: The play yards that are on the property, that allow the animals space to get exercise, have recently received damage and are in need of some repairs. Scouts will be clearing both pens of all protruding stumps, an uprooted tree, and all accumulated debris both within and around pen perimeters. We need your financial support in repairing multiple damaged areas of fence, realigning the fence gates, and raising the fence height to 6’ along the back property line.
GBHS CRITICAL CARE CENTER (CCC) POST-OP BEDS: Upwards of 30 – 40 Dogs and Cats receive surgery daily at GBHS CCC. Post-surgery can be disorienting to both Dogs and Cats who go through the hour-plus recovery on the current bedding available. Scouts will construct two twin bed size dog recovery beds with 6” waterproof mattresses and one 24” x 36” cat bed. We need your financial support for materials to build these beds.
Since prehistoric times, Dogs and Cats have provided us with unconditional love, companionship and service, most evident recently through two years of COVID-19’s social isolation. Dogs in particular are also our personal protectors, sniff out cancers and alert the oncoming of seizures, providing eyes for the blind and peace of mind to those with PTSD, serve in law enforcement as well as in all of America’s wars, save lives by sniffing out explosives at airports and in war zones, herded and safeguard our livestock and much more. Your donations championing the material resources of these projects will have long reaching benefits, substantially enhance the quality of life of the 17,000+ Dogs and Cats that are served by GBHS annually. Scouts thank you in advance for your generosity in financially supporting these projects.
