Hi everyone, I am Gayla Short's daughter! In October of 2022, we found out my mom, Gayla, had stage 4 colon cancer. Gayla was able to get surgery to remove some of the cancer and then started chemotherapy. In March she found that the cancer had spread to her small intestine, liver, and female reproductive system.

On March 13, 2023, Gayla underwent another surgery to remove as much cancer as possible. Following the surgery, Gayla started to get infection after infection, causing her to lose lots of weight and be fatigued all of the time. Since then, she has been in and out of the hospital in Wichita. Then, on May 20th, we discovered the cancer had spread to her back.
