Gavin's Story Sturge Weber Syndrome

The first sign of Gavin’s condition was when he was 5 months old. He had an episode where he had a right sided gaze and he did not respond to his mother. The minute his mother saw this, she knew he was having a seizure. Once the right sided gaze stopped he became postictal. At that point Gavin went to the Emergency Department where they thought he had an absent seizure and assured the family not to worry. They said it was very common in infants and they would usually out grow this. However, this was not the case.
June 2016 - Shortly after, Gavin experienced a seizure, and he was rushed to the hospital and had numerous test done, to include a CT scan, EEG, MRI and other tests. Doctors thought it could be Encephalitis, but Rosalba and Omar (mom and dad) were ultimately told he had Sturge Weber Syndrome, stage 3.
Fast forward to December 12, 2017 - Gavin's Neuro Surgeon decided that Gavin would need surgery to remove a portion of the left side of his brain, the part affected by Sturge Weber.

This GoFundMe is to assist Rosalba and Omar as they help Gavin battle and recover. The family has had an amazing out pour of support from family and friends, however, both Rosalba and Omar have not been working, and they have been staying at JW House. There is no telling how much longer Gavin will need to be in hospital/ICU and for the family to be be his side. As you can image, finances are the last thing on their mind. I would love, for those of you that are able, if you could help support this loving family as they help Gavin recover to be the little superhero he is.
Who am I?
My name is Edgar, a long time friend of Omar and Rosalba. We grew up together and over the years, we have stayed in touch. As both our families grew, so did our friendship. Omar and Rosalba are two of the kindest, most generous people I have had the pleasure of knowing. I've struggled to find a way for me to help and it wasn't until this morning that my wife suggested I create a GoFundMe page.
