Gavin Sheppard Fights Brain Cancer

After experiencing double vision, and hearing loss, my 15 year-old nephew, Gavin Sheppard, was recently diagnosed with a large brain tumor. 

He is currently at Cooks Children's Hospital in Fort Worth Texas where he'll go in for surgery to have the tumor removed on Monday, August 20th.  

We've been told by his neurosurgeon that the tumor is most likely an ependymoma, which is a cancerous tumor that does not respond to Chemo therapy. Because of this, the tumor will need to be completely removed, even if it means causing permanent damage to Gavin's primary motor skills.



As if this devastating news isn't enough, my sister Tiffany's health insurance doesn't kick in until September 1st (waiting for surgery isn't an option because the tumor could spread further down Gavin's spine).  She is a single mother, raising her 3  kids entirely on her own, and will now be facing hundreds of thousands dollars in medical bills. 


Words cannot even adequately describe the love and prayers that we've felt at this time.

We've been contacted by numerous family and friends who've all asked if there is anything they could do to help; so we thought it would be a good idea to get this gofundme going so Tiffany can get a jump start on tackling Gavin's medical bills.
