Gauntt Family Relief Fund

In the Gauntt family's own words:
It is hard to believe the devastation that flooding can do to a home and a family.  Now we know first-hand.

Nothing could have prepared us for what to expect after Hurricane Harvey.  We entered our house and saw how quickly mold had spread and how the smell of flood water and mildew penetrates every corner of the house. It began the race against the clock to move out furniture; sort through what to keep; and pull out carpet and dry wall before the mold spread further. Unfortunately, in that process, a lot of our valuables and a lifetime of memories were thrown to the curb.
It's an emotional and exhausting experience.

However, we could have never imagined the love and care we would recieve from friends and strangers. People have worked days at our house - helping us do hard labor, sending us lunch, sorting through trash. Our friends have provided us a place to stay and helped our parents look for an apartment. Our co-workers have raised money.  Strangers have walked into our house and asked if we needed help... then stayed for 3 consecutive days to knock down walls and pull up carpet.  The church down the road washed 16 trash bags full of wet and mildewed laundry... a task we were completely overwhelmed by.

There are no words that can describe our appreciation. Thank you to every person who has given us help and touched our life in a time of need.

Your donation will help our family rebuild our life.  We did not have flood insurance unfortunately, so we have a lot ahead of us... Finding temporary living for our parents; rebuilding our house - from flooring, drywall, cabinets, bathtubs, toilets, appliances, doors; replacing clothing, medicine, shoes, furniture, bedding...and more. We cannot replace the sentimental things, but we are incredibly fortunate to have each other - and all of you around us.

With our love,
Zackariah & Deena Gauntt
