The folowing message is from Daisha Fox:
As you may know, Mimi started an adventure in June 2017 after taking a MUCH DESERVED year off from teaching. I am in awe of her perseverance and courage.
She has looked for work since the day she left and has not been able to secure a position. This trip has not been easy for her, but I've been in constant communication with her throughout. She's learning and growing through all of the challenges she has faced.
Mimi left with significant savings, but unforeseen events and poor results in finding work have put her in a position in which she is struggling to get back home. She needs gas and hostel/hotel money to get back to us. She did not want to set this up for herself, calling it panhandling. I only convinced her when she said she would pay everyone back with her first check in September.
She's extremely resourceful and has figured out how to live on a shoestring, sleeping in her car and eating far too much peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Despite all the obstacles, she's been positive and laughing throughout.
She has housing in San Diego and a very part-time tutoring job until March 1st. If everyone could donate just a couple dollars, both she and I would really appreciate it!
