Gaslight and Shadows Antiques needs your help!

My name is Alicia, and my husband Steven and I were so struck by our friend's misfortune that we decided we needed to help. The city of San Francisco has been hit hard by theft and rampant crime over the last few years, making it almost unrecognizable to those who call it home. Our friend Phyllis Nabhan (also known as Saida) has just been the unfortunate victim of a burglary at her antiques and consignment store Gaslight and Shadows Antiques on Clement street. After spending 2 days casing her shop, thieves stole cases of antique jewelry and watches, a beautiful Tiffany lamp, and her computer containing the entire database for her business, along with many other treasures. The losses are now totaling over $13,000, and unfortunately this is the type of accident that is not covered by her business insurance policy. HERE is a link to the news story covered by local KTVU Fox 2 news.

Phyllis has been a pillar of the community for decades, through not only her antiques and consignment shop, but also through her photo restoration business, and her overwhelming and inspiring community service activities with local marathons and other service work. If you have been lucky enough to know her, you most certainly wish to help.

THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP! Phyllis is too humble to ask for herself, but cannot possibly recoup the losses on her own. Many have asked for a way to pitch in, and we know her community wants to do everything you can to help. So, here is a brief and estimated breakdown of what we're asking for to help get Gaslight and Shadows Antiques back on her feet:

Replacing the broken front door: $800
New security cameras: $100
A new security system: (unknown as of now)
Replacing the 3 broken jewelry cases: $1,000
Money to buy merchandise and restock the store with items to sell: $10,000

Gaslight and Shadows Antiques, like many other small businesses in SF, barely made it through the COVID-19 shelter in place order, so this theft has only made recovering more difficult. We're setting a broad fundraising goal of March 1st so that pressure may be relieved for Phyllis as soon as possible.

Thank you for reading, and for your generous contribution. As one last request, we ask that you opt-in to cover the fees that GoFundMe needs to take to run their platform (without which, it would not be so simple for us to crowd fund). That way, more of what we raise here can go directly to lifting Gaslight and Shadows Antiques back on her feet.

Yours in gratitude,
Alicia and Steven G.
