Gary's Kidney Failure Treatment

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Mak. This fundraiser is to help save my cat Gary's life. He is currently suffering from kidney failure and will need immediate treatment to save him from this fatal illness. August 12, 2020 started as a normal day for Gary and I. He woke me up by meowing inches from my face for breakfast, like he has every day since I rescued him six years ago at six years old. Later that day, he started acting a little strange, keeping his distance from me, hiding. Shortly after, he began vomiting. I monitored him throughout the rest of the day, but didn't think too much of it because cats are notorious for random bouts of vomiting, usually caused by a hairball (and he gets a lot of them because he's a Himalayan/Bengal mix). Unfortunately, this was not the case. The following day, he stopped eating. I think it was actually the first time he didn't wake me up for breakfast. I made an appointment to have him seen by my vet, who did a Senior Comprehensive exam. This included bloodwork, CBC, a nose-tail check. He was prescribed an appetite stimulant and anti-nausea medication, as well as Laxatone for hairballs, in the meantime. This visit alone was almost $250. He has only eaten a handful of treats and about half a can of cat food in the past three days. I got the results from his tests today (Aug. 16). My vet, who is an awesome person and actually called me on his day off to give me the results, said Gary's bloodwork looked great and he is a healthy boy, but his kidneys have begun to fail suddenly. But, luckily, he is in the early stages and there are treatment options. These treatments will not be cheap. I was told to call tomorrow (Aug. 17), when the clinic is open again, to discuss these options. I'm not ready to give up on Gary, and I know he's not ready to give up either. He could have several more years of good quality life. We both just need help getting through this. He is an incredible cat, my animal soulmate, and honestly, the love of my life. I don't want to lose my best friend. *** I am asking for $1,000 right now, as I am not 100% sure of the total cost of treatment. It could be slightly less or it could be more. I have done a TON of research and found $1,000 is about the average cost to treat acute kidney failure. I want to be prepared financially, so that he can receive treatment ASAP ***
