Who is Gary Dobry?
Gary is an artist, a boxer, a small business owner, a dog lover and my ex-husband.
On August 21, I was hillside looking at the eclipse, when my phone rang, it was Gary. He said, "I'm in the ER, I need help with my dog. Please, someone has to take care of him. I have to be sure he's ok." His voice was strained and full of panic. I can assure you, if he is calling me, he is desperate for help.
I have been able to secure temporary assistance with his dog, Stasch. Stasch is a Senior, and not an easy one. He's very protective of the house and was pretty shook up from the trauma of the paramedics arrival.
Gary's health was diminishing prior to ending up in the ICU. I'm learning these events have had a huge impact on his business and production of art, thereby dramatically reducing his income. He is sole owner and primary trainer at The School of Hard Knocks Boxing Gym in Crystal Lake. You may have known him from previous locations Pugs Boxing Gym, Palatine and McHenry, IL. His art can be seen at galleries in Chicago, LA, New York.
I am asking, on his behalf for financial assistance for Stasch, utilities both personal and business, medical bills, home care for when he gets out etc. I guess I'll be direct, he doesn't have a lot of resources. His current condition is quite urgent.
There is a power in numbers. There is power in social media. You may not know him, you may not even know me... in the end you may just know the "struggle".
