Gary "Bud" Chauvin Medical Fund

In 2012, Gary fought and won a battle against prostate cancer. August 2013, less than two years later, he was diagnosed with rectal cancer. Though the diagnosis was shocking and overwhelming, our dad was quick to seek out his options for treatment.

His doctors wanted to shrink the tumor as much as possible, so Gary was given six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. As you know, Gary is an outgoing guy, and he instantly made connections with others also receiving chemo treatment. Everybody at the treatment center knew him by name. And everything is a learning experience for him. From talking about the treatments to learning how to change the batteries on the chemo machine, Gary would always find something worth asking about. Our mom, Janie, says his biggest complaint about chemotherapy is that he can't do his swimming because of the machine hooked up to him.

As one might expect, the financial burden of two surgeries and other medical bills can be overwhelming. He has made it through a lot but there is still more to come. There will be one more reconstructive surgery in mid February and chemo treatment has already begun again.

We will continue to communicate with you about Gary's surgery and recovery. If you would like to help by supplying meals or other needs, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, and we will gladly let you know what our parents need most at that time. And again, our family is very grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and support.

Thank you & God Bless,
Sara, Charlie, Mariana & Larry Chauvin
