Gary's Digital Recovery Fund
On Sunday night, September16th, on Interstate Highway 5, en route from LA to SF, my car was broken into while it was parked in front of Denny's Restaurant, where I was getting a quick bite. The loss has been catastrophic. Not only did they steal my MacBook pro, My Ipad, My Apple watch, and my noise cancellation headphones, (the last three were all gifts over the last three years), along with my personal journal, bills, important papers, charging tools, and God knows what else!
For those of you who know of my work, virtually EVERYTHING i'm working on has to do with
creating projects that are more compassionate, mindful, and music-infused for a more thriving world. It's this commitment to serving the Greater Good that empowers me to suck up my pride and ask for support to replace these stolen resources, as well as get some support while i reconstruct things- so
that I may quickly get back to creating resources for for these life-generative projects.
This robbery has been profoundly destabilizing, especially as I prepare to give an important presenta-tion in a few days to a major hospital in Texas on how music can be utilized to deepen the spiritual dimension of end of life care. Since the release of the globally acclaimed Graceful Passages, co-created
with Michael and Doris Stillwater, it's been my privilege to make presentations like this. Clearly, the
unexpected gift here is the message that they want ME and my music, not my power point. Message
received. So, it's time to lick my wounds, and move on.
My favorite movie ever is 'It's a Wonderful Life", because of that remarkable demonstration of love
from his community at the end of the film, when George Bailey sees how loved and connected he is to his friends, family and community. I always start crying every time I see that scene, no matter how
many times I've seen it! This outreach is that kind of moment for me. I decided to do this GoFundMe process to allow myself to experience it fully, humiliation be damned.
How much you give is not important. It's about the recognition that we are all connected, all of us
doing our best to create a more loving, interdependent and peaceful world.
