Hello my name is Misty Newton and I'm writing on behalf of my amazing uncle..... Gary Moody.
On May 30th, he went in to the hospital for severe migraine with a bit of disorientation every now and then, and was given an MRI. After the results, he was taken immediately on June 3rd for a biopsy. The doctors informed his wife that he had Stage 4 Glibomastoma Multiforme Brain Cancer and that it was inoperable. This was a complete shock as he was a perfectly healthy man, enjoying the simple quiet life in Arkansas with his wonderful wife, having moved there recently from the hustle and bustle of California to be close to his wife's family.
They went together to the Cancer Center of America in Chicago on June 28th and met with several doctors from June 28th to July 3rd. They were informed it was already a very aggressive cancer in three of the four lobes in his brain. The plan was to start chemo and radiation on July 5th which he did.
July 6th, he fell in his hotel room after not feeling the left side of his body. The next day, he had three seizures that morning and was rushed to the ICU. He was placed in an induced coma with a tube for him to breath. The doctors were unsure what caused the seizures - either the chemo or radiation. Waking him up from the seizures was a great task.
His doctors called the family on July 13th and stated that the tube needed to come out. They advised the family that they should come visit as he could live from hours to days, to possibly a few months - they could not guarantee anything.
On the 14th, many of the family came and gathered around his bed. He seemed to respond very slowly, but with each hour, he made a little progress and, while still extremely exhausted, he seemed to recognize his family and surroundings.
The doctors have decided not to continue radiation at the moment but instead to get him strong enough to go home to Arkansas to be the most comfortable he can be in, and share his last moments with his lovely wife and family.
Gary works as a free lance website designer and Martha his wife of 27 years works helping people out of college to find jobs. As Gary does not have short term disability, any help or donations would help to go towards his medical bills and getting home care once there. The doctors are sending him home in the next few day, so time is against us and for Martha to figure out how to help the love of her life. His main disability that he has filed for will not be available to them until October. This has put a hard reality of the mounting medical bills, rent, and daily expenses.
Gary is the most kind, crazy, funny, loving person you could every have the chance to meet and only 58 years young.
His life revolves around the love of his life Martha.... His children Monica, Adam and Katherine..and his funky adorable little puppy Eeve......but his passion for his faith in Jehovah is undeniable.
I have set the goal at $5800.00 because Gary is 58 years young and I am praying to surprise him and him surprise us and surpass 58 years and turn 59 on his birthday Christmas Eve 2017.
We are all praying they will make it to their 28th wedding anniversary on Dec 2nd, 217.
Any help would be a blessing and completely appreciated with warmest of love and gratitude. I will continue to keep updates on his status and hopefully pictures if I can find how to update them.
