Hi, my name is Ashley, and my husband's family is going through an extremely hard time that no one could have ever imagined. My sister-in-law Jessica's husband, Gary Kauth, is battling for his life in the Mercy Hospital ICU. Gary had been battling an earache for a couple of weeks that turned into bacterial meningitis, leaving him unresponsive to any stimuli and testing for the last four days. He is presumed to have no brain activity at this time. Gary is a fighter - he is a survivor of brain cancer that had initially left him with only six months to live. No one could have ever imagined that an earache could lead to such a horrible fate. Gary and Jessica have three children together, who are all stronger and braver than I could ever imagine being and do not deserve to lose their dad at such a young age.
This is a post from Jessica, Gary's wife:
"So its time for me to be real honest and lay it all out there... people have messaged and I have kept it pretty simple because if I write its real.... Gary is the strongest person I have ever seen.. He fought a cancer that was intended to kill him 6 months after he was diagnosed, never going to be able to have more kids, there is Gage... Every odd ALWAYS against him but it didn't matter he said hold my beer and watch this and would beat it... he has no brain activity, no responses to test for 4 days, last night he started to do this discord posture thing which is a sign of a brain injury. I have had make the discussion that if he goes into cardiac arrest do I have them do CPR, I know that it isn't going to change the fact he will never be Gary, he wouldn't want that, I wouldn't want that, no one would. He will be a body laying there."
Please help me raise money for my sister-in-law and her family as they go through this unimaginable time to help with medical expenses, meals and any other costs that may arise. If you cannot contribute money, there is also a meal train page that would be helpful to the family as well! And if you cannot do either, please keep my husband's family in your prayers as they navigate through this impossible time.
