My name Gary K. Peterson aka "Big Pete". Although, I've had many struggles throughout my life, this one may be my biggest challenge.
It all began at the age of seven when I became ill and my parents rushed me to the ER at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. The ER doctor thought I had Polio so the medical staff drew fluid off my spine. Little did I know circumstances would resurface later in my life.
I grew up as a fairly normal child and was fortunate enough to receive a good education, finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. My education allowed me the opportunity to work in the Little Rock School District as well as for several prominent poultry companies. My mission throughout my career was to impact the work environment by leaving them better than I found them through developing and assisting others in their respective career development. My philosophy was to be a servant leader.
In 2008, I became extremely ill during a sleep study and was rushed to the emergency room once again. The doctor informed me that a pacemaker was necessary. My life began to change. As a result with a life-long struggle with my weight, I had to have gastric bypass surgery in order to preserve the longevity of my life. Shortly after the surgery, my rheumatologist discovered I had a rare muscle disorder known as polymyositis. The Polio virus destroys nerve cells in the spinal cord. Treatment is available, however, there is NO CURE.
AS a Deacon in my church and Christian walking in the Faith of God, he has determined that my career is run its course. I am unable to work and my condition worsening. Eventually, unless God sees his way to provide me with a miracle, eventually, I will not be able to walk. Both my financial challenges and my deteriating health is now beginning to consume me. Despite the my obstacles, I remain steadfast.
I’m asking in the name of Jesus for your support and help to help sustain me until my breakthrough comes. Whether it be $5, $10 or something more, I ask that you do it because God has lead you to be the provision of one of his children. I humbly Thank You for your gift.
