Gary Fuller’s Massive Stroke

Donation protected

Gary & Sandy Fuller have led a quiet and faithful life serving God throughout their
60+ year marriage.

Gary was pastor at Savior’s Community Church for 20+ years and worked as a special education aid for severely handicapped kids at two different schools for 30+ years.
He has led many  Bible studies and has been involved in the lives of many people.

He has been an avid cyclist for years and is currently part of a senior cycling club,
cycling 40 miles/week.  On October 28, 2020, he went through his daily routine
including errands, yard work and a bike ride.

That afternoon, Sandy found him unconscious from what was determined to be a
massive stroke.  After being taken to the hospital, Sandy was informed the following
by the hospital :  “Because our neurologists cannot determine the cause of the stroke
or agree on a course of treatment, we are airlifting him to Stanford.”  Beth, her
husband, David and their daughter Chelsea, drove Sandy up to Stanford and settled
into a nearby hotel.

At that point, they were given the news  that Gary might not recover. He was given a breathing tube to protect his airway while they waited to see how he would respond over the next few days.

Their son Geoff flew in and after several days, Gary began to show signs of
improvement and awareness,  the  decision was made to remove the
breathing tube and Gary did well on his own, breathing and protecting his airway!
God is not finished with Gary and he has been slowly making improvements in
mobility and understanding every day.

Since Gary continues to make progress, The decision was made to transport him to
the Vineyard care facility at the CA Armenian Home in Fresno on 11/13.  He will
continue to receive therapy and the family is very hopeful that they will eventually be able to bring him home.

Sandy has always been a vivacious, fun and outgoing woman. In recent years, she has depended heavily on Gary as her driver and her rock.  Although her strong faith and
family support  is her foundation, this has been a totally unexpected detour which
has brought not only emotional and physical stress, but also financial. Their friends
have decided to do this fundraiser as the most practical way to show their love &
support to relieve the pressures that come with heavy financial burdens.

Current financial needs include the following:

1.  Costs for food, lodging & trips to and from Stanford, estimate:             $  2,000
2.  “Surprise” cost for medical transport company to bring Gary
Back to Fresno; insurance covers first 25 miles & bill Sandy:                       4,000
3.  Housekeeping & yard care (2 months):                                                                      1,000
4.  In-Home care & support:                                                                                                    1,700
5.  Additional costs and expenses unknown at this time.

We realize that there are inevitable additional costs, so we have made the decision toadd to the above estimates, and are, therefore, asking for $10,000.  Thank you so
much to everyone who desires to be a support to Gary & his family.
