Garrett is a 22-year-old recent college grad, who just suffered from a ruptured spleen only two months after graduation. Thankfully, he made it through surgery (splenectomy) and is doing well. However, he will be unable to return to work for at least six weeks as he continues to heal from the surgery.
Additionally, the timing could not have been any worse.
This unfortunate situation comes during a small window when he has no medical insurance - his coverage ended upon graduation, and he was due to start getting insurance upon the start of his new job in a few weeks. This means all costs for his surgery and hospital stay are coming out of pocket.
Anyone who knows Garrett (and a lot of people do) knows his character, and his spirit. Neither he nor we expect anything from anyone, or think that he or we are owed anything. This is simply a terrible situation that happened at the unluckiest time possible.
As his family, our hope is to help him cover at least the cost of living for the next two months. We humbly ask you for your help with this - even if it's just sharing this page. Anything beyond that would go towards paying the hospital bill.
