The time has come to push myself further and harder than ever before to provide help for those not as fortunate as myself - I'm raising money to benefit Great Oaks School and the Hurricanes Rugby Club
A bit about what I'm going to do and then about the who and why...
From time to time I like to run and sometimes try to raise money for good causes in the process. This time I am aiming to push myself even harder by running 12 100 mile events in less than 12 months.

Now for the who and why "in their own words"

The Hurricanes is a Rugby Club for children and adults with learning difficulties based at Eastleigh RFC.
Awarded the RFU 'Presidents Award for Social Inclusion' the Hurricanes provides a safe and fun environment to play rugby and be part of club.
Run entirely by volunteers, the Hurricanes rely upon fundraising and sponsorship.
Many of our players come from deprived social backgrounds and we try and subsidise costs for them as much as possible. We are currently looking to raise money to provide wet/cold weather kit for our players to wear for training over the winter months and to subsidise costs of travel to and from training and tournaments.

Great Oaks School is a 230 place secondary school for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties including autism and speech and language difficulties. Our pupils come from all over Southampton as well as some from Hampshire.
We want to equip our young people to be as independent as possible, with this in mind we have developed a curriculum that focuses on communication, literacy, numeracy and personal and social skills whilst embracing arts, leisure and learning about the world as ways of engaging and motivating the students.
We currently have 3 sites, our main site in Vermont Close Southampton, is supplemented by a personalised learning centre in Bitterne, for young people needing additional support and a vocational centre for Post 16 at Down to Earth Farm in Millbrook.
We aim to put the needs of the young people at our school at the heart of everything that we do and through promoting a growth mindset help to ensure that all pupils, irrespective of their learning difficulties or past educational attainment, can make real progress and be enabled to succeed.
We are currently looking to:
- finish equipping the sensory which provides a range of sensory equipment – lights, sound and tactile resources which gives opportunities for our young people to develop a range of skills in an interactive environment
- Provide a few more machines for the Gym to enable more pupils to use it at any time
- Provide age appropriate but easy to read books for our library

All money raised will be shared equally between these two equally deserving groups.
