Garduno-Harvey Relief Fund

My name is Amy, I am Karen's sister, and am seeking outlets to help my sister and her family re-establish their "home". Karen, Erik and their two little girls, Kylie (11) and Khloe (18 mos) were living in an apartment complex off Barker Cypress and Kingsland in Katy, TX . On Monday, August, 28th they walked away from their "home" as they were taking on water from the Barker reservoir that was releasing waters from Hurrican Harvey. They left with their two cars, suitcases that would hold a few clothing items, Kylie's American Girl dolls =), and some pictures. Not only did they live on the ground floor of the apartments, they also leased a garage at the complex as storage for all the remaining furnishings, while they worked to save/build the home of their dreams. At this time, we do not know the full extent of their losses.  We anticipate it will be most everything and unfortunately, they do not have flood insurance. We have applied for FEMA, but we are not clear how much assistance that will provide for them.  We are also not completely clear of their losses.  So many uncertainties!  The Army National Guard will not allow anyone access to the complex because the water is now contaminated and that brings on more concerns of their belongings.  It's difficult for Karen & Erik to "ask" for anything and many friends/family have graciously offered and asked how to help. So, it was my suggestion to establish this GoFundMe account that I am hoping would be useful or helpful for them to share with family/friends who were looking for some way to soften the financial burdens they will be facing in the coming months.
