Gardner Winchester

As you all know, my father Gardner Winchester passed away November 11, 2020. Fitting that he passed on Veterans day as my father loved all his veterans and did everything he could on the civilian side to assist. My father called himself a "Son of Gloucester". He grew up in Gloucester where he lived his entire life. My father was an avid sailor and lived aboard his boats. First starting with Old Blue and the Jesse Boyce. My father was big in the community emergency management and an avid HAM radio operator with the call sign KA1BTK. He was an industrial mechanic and there was truly nothing he could not fix. He enjoyed a vast range of hobbies that consisted of photography, computer repair, hiking in Dog Town where he could explain and tell you about every inch of the land. My father loved to help everyone in any way he could. Those I have spoken with over the last few days have spoken highly and how they could not have accomplished many things without him. One thing my father said several weeks ago was that, if he had to go, he was ok with it because he had accomplished everything on his bucket list. As on top of things as he was, the only thing he did not want to discuss was the topic of life insurance. As hard as it is to ask this, our family needs help with the cost of his cremation and celebration of his life. The estimated cost is between 5,000$ and 7,000$. The state has offered 1,100$ but the rest of the cost is up to us. We have spent a lot obtaining a new handicap apartment for my father to come home to and to ensure he had everything he needed to continue his chemotherapy. I ask only due to the severity of this situation for help in this cost. I know my father would not want to take any money from anyone, but after discussing with family, we do not know where to turn.
