Gallery SixThirteen | Community Art

Dear Friends & Family,

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to open an art gallery. It has been a dream that always seemed somehow just a little crazy or beyond the scope of practicality. However, I recently discovered (thanks to my husband) the absolute perfect potential gallery space a few blocks from my house. In this gallery space, I aspire to include my work for sale, but I also help other emerging artists launch their careers, gain exposure, and share their artistic talents with the community. This campaign is an effort to raise the money required to support both the renovation and cultivation of this space which I will call "Gallery Six Thirteen " located at 68 Leonard St, Belmont, MA 02478. My goal is to start renovations to convert the space to a gallery in February 2017 with a plan to open by March 2017.

Belmont Center, not far from Cambridge, MA is undergoing a kind of cultural renaissance. A high end grocery store, Foodies, is opening in March 2017, a two level book store is going in across the street from what will be my gallery space, and various arts & craft, fashion and jewelry stores are thriving, even expanding, in the area. The town just recently renovated and broadened the sidewalks and added beautiful new trees, benches, and elegant lighting to facilitate further commerce (and to spruce up the area). Every penny raised from this campaign will go directly toward the gallery. In terms of renovations we need to replace the flooring, add gallery lighting, and purchase a display hanging system for the art, maintain the website, develop a logo, create signage and publicity materials (posters, outreach campaigns, etc.). With the support of the Belmont Gallery of Art , we will aim to serve as a kind of satellite gallery for artists exhibiting in the community space. We will also dedicate one wall of the gallery to community art, featuring local emerging as well as established artists from the region.

This opportunity also allows me, for the first time in my professional life, to combine my marketing and management skills with my love of the arts, perhaps my true passion and calling in life. I want this to be a successful venture so this can be sustained for the remainder of my career. With your support getting this launched, I have no doubt I can realize this dream and start off with a strong foundation underway. The fine art I will showcase will be a range of modern, contemporary, folk, impressionist and even post-impressionist works - all high quality but also affordable for a broad range of clients (most of the art will be within the range of $30 - $3000 USD). I even plan to have a series of talented artists creating work for children, too. I want this space to be enriching and welcoming for a broad range of clients and visitors.

If you are not able to support monetarily, spreading the word about this effort to open the gallery works just as well! Thank you so much for your help making this dream come true. For the first 20 campaign donors, I will send a small 5 x 7 original work of art as a thank you gift for your support. Simply email me once you have contributed along with your mailing address, and your work of art will be on the way. Finally, if you know of any local talented artists who would be great to feature in my space, please send me suggestions and ideas (painters, sculptors, graphic designers, etc.), I'm always open to learning about new, emerging as well as established talent to include in my space.

Thank you so much and Happy Holidays!
