Gallery & Studio is back!

After a hiatus of 4 years, the magazine that was started by Ed & Jeannie McComack in 1998 will be back online and in print.

Gallery & Studio is now a non-profit organization chaired by Jeannie McCormack and Ed McCormack as the Editor-in-chief.

The mission of the new Gallery & Studio Arts Journal is to be a portal to the wider world of the arts, for a broad audience.  Covering established artists and venues as well as giving recognition to unknown and emerging artists,  as well as artists who are no longer with us, with different settings, such as open studios, pop-up shows, online platforms, to give a more balanced view.  The broadest definition of the arts will also include poetry and literature, theater, dance, music as well as the visual and healing arts.  The journal will include reviews, essays, critiques, competitions, interviews, schedule of events and information pertinent to art aficionados, collectors, artists, academia, gallerists, press and other individuals associated with and interested in the arts.

We are raising money to help re-launch the magazine.   The aim is to provide coverage for over 1000 artists, artistic companies, organizations and events in the coming year with independent journalism. Please consider helping us support the arts and the artists who create them.

Testimonials

"As a professional artist who is represented in the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art and whose work is included in museum, corporate and private collections internationally, I am eternally grateful to Ed and Jeanne McCormack of Gallery&Studio. I have been a member of an artist-run gallery for the past twenty years where I have mounted a new solo exhibition every two years. Coverage in Gallery&Studio has been invaluable and has contributed much to my success. In mentoring young artists, I have always cited the importance of this magazine. I am thrilled to see this valuable publication once again poised to re-take center stage!"
Marilyn Henrion

“I liked your piece on John Graham in Gallery&Studio very much. “
John Storrs, Former Museum of Modern Art Curator, Dean of the Yale School of Art,  Commissioner of the 2007 Venice Biennale

“I am blown away by how well written your review is in Gallery&Studio. The guy did such a sensitive, thoughtful,  acutely perceptive reading of the work . . . I guess what I am saying is that this is one of the best reviews I’ve read in a long long time.”
Kate Somers, Curator, Bristol Meyrs Squibb Gallery

“Thank you so much for the wonderful review on our artists Naujokas and Bryant.  The artists themselves could not have described their work better.”
Katharina Rich Perlow, Director of the Katharina Rich Perlow Gallery

“It is a pleasure to read your magazine.   From Turner to Alfred Kubin and from Arcilesi to Shigeru Mizuki there is always something new.”
Walter O’Niel,  Director of the Educational Alliance Art School

“To have someone else describe my work through their eyes was very helpful.  You have seen me come through the painting.  I was not sure if my works were communicating my feelings as I intended, however, after your review there is no doubt in my mind that some people ‘get it.’”
Beverly A Smith

“This example of art criticism at it’s finest ranks with or above any art review I’ve ever read in Art in America, The New York Times or The New Yorker, to name but a few of the ‘branded’ literary art media of our day."
 Laura von Schmidt

“Thank you for continuing to publish this special magazine.   Ed’s writing about art and especially his personal perspective and  interesting historical anecdotes are something I enjoy immensely.”
Lenora Paglia

“I’ll always read your magazine before any of the other so-called National/International  mags. Please keep doing tremendous work especially during these tough times.”
John Monteiro

“I just wanted to express to you my pleasure concerning the review that was written on my exhibit at Phoenix Gallery.  I thought it was thorough, intelligent and accurately descriptive of the work.  I realize my art is challenging and difficult for some people and I appreciated the time and energy that was invested in the writing of this article. Thank you for for trying to add clarity to an often misunderstood market.”
Leslie Kneisel

“I just wanted to say ‘thanks” for your work on the Art Online article you did about me and my work. It was a great read and looked Fantastic!”
