Galax Golf Team to PGA High School Nationals 2023

The benefit will be for the Galax Maroon Tide Golf Team to compete in the PGA High School National Invitational in Frisco Texas July 17-19th, 2023. The trip will be a 10 to 12 day trip counting travel time and practice rounds. We are located 16 hours away from Frisco Texas in Galax, Virginia. The team roster will be Talan Gentry (Junior), Adam Dillon (Junior), Grayden Laird (Sophmore), Carson Iroler (Freshman) and Jed McGrady (Freshman). The Maroon Tide shot 302 at districts and won by 17 shots. At regions we tied with George Wythe with a 309 and went to playoff which was your top 4 players count all scores. We won by one shot on the first playoff hole on hole #1 with 4 pars. The District and Regional Tournament was held at Wytheville Country Club. The VA State Championship was held at Olde Mill Golf Resort on October 11th, 2022. The Maroon Tide won the state championship with a team score of 322 and won by 26 shots. Grayden Laird won the Individual Championship with a score of 73 and his teammate Talan Gentry finished T-2nd with a score of 74 and freshman Carson Iroler shot 78 and finished 6th. With the state championship win we were invited to the PGA High School National Invitational in Frisco 2023. We accepted the invitation and were selected to compete in the National Championship. Talan Gentry shot a 3 under par 67 to win the Regional Championship at Wytheville Country Club by 3 shots. For the year Talan Gentry finished All District, Regional Champion and All State (T-2nd), Grayden Laird finished All District (3rd), All Regional and VA State Champion, Carson Iroler finished All District and All State. All five of these players have worked really hard on their game. The team is really excited for the opportunity they have received. We want to thank everyone for their support.
