Horse Rescue Foundation Galapagos
Donation protected
My name is Claudia Moreno, founder of Galapagos Horse Friends.
It all started with the purchase of two neglected mares from a neighbor. The herd grew as more horses in need joined it, and presently, I take care of 15 horses of different sad backgrounds, a three-legged mule, and 12 rescue dogs.
The lack of resources that came with the pandemic made it clear to me that becoming a foundation was the only way forward to transform my current project into a long-lasting sanctuary for mistreated and abandoned horses on the island. We struggle to make the meets end, as I mostly finance everything out of my own pocket.
The monthly costs for upkeeping our herd are:
Farm rent (so that our horses can roam free on their own little piece of land) $ 1050
Maintenance (repairing fences, stables etc) $ 813
Medicine, supplements, and veterinary attention $ 175
2038$
Our most immediate goal is to collect $5000 to rebuild the run-in shelter, which was absolutely destroyed by the El Nino phenomenon, which caused massive downpours in the Galapagos islands. Our horses are trapped in mud and water with no place to hide. Every donation counts, no matter the amount!
