Gae Avers: Hit By Drunk Driver & Needs Our Help

On the night of November 30th, Gae Avers was walking from her garage to her house IN HER OWN YARD after work and was hit by a drunk driver. He drove through her neighbors’ yard, then through her garage, sending her car flying into her, and throwing her onto the public sidewalk. It was a devastating incident.
Gae was in ICU for 17 days, intubated with a breathing and feeding tube. She suffered multiple fractures and needed 3 surgeries. Just last week (after 7 weeks in the hospital) she finally got moved to a long-term rehabilitation center. Her injuries are extensive. She has to learn to walk again and she will need months of treatment and care. She has a long road ahead of her physically, and financially. Since she lives on her income alone and is missing work, this is going to be an incredible hardship for her.
Gae is a nurse of 40 years, caregiver to her 90-year-old mother, and is always the first person to step in and help others. I met her 20 years ago when she offered me a room in her home when I went to college in Minot and had no place to live. Gae and her daughter Heather soon became my American family. When I heard about this accident, I felt helpless. But now setting up this fund for her is something I can do that I hope makes a difference.
It would be great to see everyone come together to help her. Every penny counts and she could sure use your help and support. Honestly, your donations absolutely could not go to a better person. Please help me raise some money to help Gae pay for her medical bills, her rehabilitation costs, and everything else so she can focus on her recovery.
