Gadomski Fire Relief

Donation protected
On September 12, 2018 my sister Valerie and her 3 children left their home  in Hampstead, North Carolina as Hurricane Florence was due to make landfall directly on her community just outside Wilmington, NC.  Her husband stayed behind to care for their pets and for fear of looting.  She remained with our family in New Jersey for 2 weeks,  and luckily was able to return to her home in NC .  Valerie was profoundly grateful that her home had been spared - it had been damaged but for the most part made it through the storm.  Little did she know that minimal damage can still cause catastrophe.  Tragedy struck on October 2, 2018 when my sister's home caught fire due to damage sustained from Hurricane Florence.  An attic fan malfunctioned due to roof damage .  It caused a fire in her attic which quickly spread to the rest of her home.  My sister, her husband,  and three children made it out safely - but watched their home go up in flames.  Thankfully her pets were also spared.  Everything they owned is now gone, and we are asking friends, family, and community to come together and help us in raising money.   Without help, we cannot rebuild what was lost.  They fled their home with the clothes they had on them and now have nothing left.    Please help my family in raising money for my sister and her family.  Clothing and gift cards would also be greatly appreciated.  Lastly, I would like to add that my sister's son Tyler has autism.  Her home was equipped with safety precautions vital to Tyler's safety.  Wherever my sister is able to stay, she will need to make sure her son is safe.  Donations are the only way we can get her what she needs for Tyler.

Thank you for reading my story and thank you for all you are able to give.

Sincerely,

Megan Van Peenen

Information about this campaign

Campaign created by: Megan Van Peenen

Relationship to party raising funds for: Sister of Valerie Gadomski

How funds will be spent: The funds from this campaign will be used in order to replace everyday items. It will also go to purchasing furniture and household needs that my sister will need for the very long while they will be displaced. Should I raise more than my goal, we want to try and get a basic alarm system installed in the home they are staying in as a safety precaution for my nephew who is autistic.

Withdrawal plan: When Go Fund Me wants me to start making withdrawals, I will withdraw the amount GFM requires and it will be sent to my sister via mail to North Carolina.

* If anyone contributing to this campaign has any questions or is interested in donating something other than money- like gift cards or clothing, please leave me a message on my GFM page and I will get back to you ASAP.

Thank you!!
