Gabriela & Tiago Pacheco

Donation protected
With the death of their father at such a young age, Gabriela and Tiago could use our prayers and strength as they continue their journey through their young lives. They had just turned 11 when their father died. They are happy children with tons of energy and a great future. Together, let's help them flourish and be the wonderful people they are destined to be. The funds raised here will be used to help with the kids educational needs and their activities throughout the next few years. As their guardian and mother, Julie will have access to these funds and will be the only person able to withdraw them on the children's behalf.

What makes a Dad
God took the strengh of a mountain and the majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, and the comforting arm of night,
The wisom of the ages and the power of an eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring and the faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity and the depth of a family in need,
The God combined these qualities,
And when there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece wa complete,
And so, He called it ..."Dad"!

Mario Rui Camara Pacheco
March 28, 1980 – May 21, 2020

It is with great sadness that his loving wife Julie Hendrix and their two children, Gabriela Pacheco (11) and Tiago Pacheco (11) announce Mario's sudden and tragic passing on May 21th, 2020.

Mario was born in Sao Miguel, Azores where he lived with his parents and 6 siblings until he moved to Bermuda in 2005. It was there he met his wife Julie and they were blessed with their twin children, Gabriela and Tiago. They moved to Miami in 2012 and finally to Julie’s hometown of Calgary, AB, Canada in 2017.

Mario was an old soul, with a kind and gentle spirit. He was generous and always willing to lend a hand. His positivity and compassion were boundless, and although he was a man of few words, he made an impact on everyone who was blessed to have met him. Mario’s interest in all things mechanical began at an early age, and grew into a career that he loved as an auto-mechanic. Living most of his life by the ocean, you could often find Mario with a fishing rod in his hand, a passion he enjoyed sharing with his children. Family was everything to Mario, especially Julie and his kids, but his heart and love really had no limits. He will be forever cherished.

Who is Claudette Halluk and why did she set this fund up for Tiago and Gabriela
I am a friend of Julie's from many years ago. I have a connection to her family that means the world to me. As a person who lost her father at an early age, my heart breaks for the kids and I know that they will need more support than most of us can comprehend. I also have connections to her work colleagues and her personal life. Through discussions with several of the work colleagues and Julie's family, we decided that this was the best way to provide people with a way to help the children through their lives having lost their dad so early in their lives.
